Ponsel anyar besutan Google, Nexus One, tak lama lagi akan meramaikan pasar ponsel cerdas di Indonesia. Ponsel dengan sistem operasi Android 2.1 itu coba dibawa masuk oleh Indosat. Kapan?
"Insya Allah, Nexus One bisa kami hadirkan paling cepat tahun ini. Kami masih melakukan pembicaraan dengan Google," bisik Group Head Brand Marketing Indosat Teguh Prasetya di sela Mega Bazaar, Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Rabu (3/3/201).
Indonesia, menurut Teguh, dinilai oleh Google sebagai pasar yang punya peluang cukup menarik untuk melebarkan sayap bisnisnya, termasuk untuk Nexus One.
"Google sudah mulai terbuka dengan Indonesia. Buktinya, mereka telah membuka pintunya untuk Google Android Market," kata Teguh.
Technical Program Manager Developer Relation Engineering Google, Christine M Songco, mengakui Indonesia merupakan pasar yang menarik. Namun sayangnya, masih kurang dalam hal penyediaan konten lokal.
"Itu sebabnya, kami masih mempelajari dulu pasar di sini. Kami masih belum tahu strateginya seperti apa di Asia Tenggara, khususnya Indonesia," pungkasnya.

Nokia looking to corner the market on cheap smartphones
With their Nseries of phones, Nokia were once the darlings of the smartphone world. Nowadays, though, despite the awesome power of the Nokia N97, they’ve slipped somewhat, compared to new upstarts like Apple and HTC. And so, Nokia have thought of a new strategy, according to IntoMobile. Nokia’s bread and butter business has always been the mid to low range. Entry level phones, and mid-rangers, that don’t have massively huge feature-sets, but do sell by the truckload.
So, they’ve come to the conclusion that what would be a brilliant marketing strategy is to make smartphones that aren’t top-enders like the Nokia N97, but that sit nicely in the mid-range.
Smartphones for the masses, if you like.
Or, in the slightly more sensible business words of Nokia CEO lli-Pekka Kallasvuo, Nokia “intends to expand by offering smartphones at lower prices to reach more consumers.”
That makes a lot of sense, when you realise how well the Nokia 5800 has s0ld… and when you consider just how bleedin’ gorgeous the Nokia E71 is (seriously, m’good buddy Wee Gary’s got one and it is proper nice… all slim and luvverly).
So, all in all, if you want a proper smartphone, but you don’t want to pay top dollar for one, looks like Nokia’s coming to your rescue!

After the massive revelation about the Sony Ericsson Idou (the world’s first Symbian Foundation phone, that includes a 12MP camera), this morning, it’s going to be rather hard for any of the other manufacturers to top Sony Ericsson. However, Samsung are having a chuffing good go, with their newly announced flagship phone, the Samsung Omnia HD, also known as the i8910. Oh, and there’s the Beat DJ, as well, but it’s the Omnia HD that’s the big one to watch out for.
Now, you may be wondering why that is. In fact, you’re probably thinking, “Whoa, hang on, they’ve nicked the HD bit off the HTC Touch HD.”
Well, the two letters, yes, they’re the same, but the reason behind the two letters isn’t. The Touch HD simply added them on for marketing value, to underline the size of the screen and make it sound cool. And that was fine. With the Samsung Omnia HD, though, there’s another reason, and its because, simply, the Omnia HD is the first phone in history to be able to record HD-video. And that means that for the first time ever, you’ll be able to record video, with a phone, at the kind of image resolution and quality that you get on things like Blu-ray discs.
Hmm, ok, I’ll concede that does give the 12MP Idou a run for its money. Still can’t top the fact that beastie runs what will evolve into Symbian Foundation, though…
Oh, and I shouldn’t need to tell you the Omnia HD is the sequel to the existing Samsung Omnia.
Second in the Samsung stable for 2009 is the Beat DJ, or the M7600 as it’s sometimes known. This is an entirely different animal, centred around music. Well, it would be since it’s got Bang & Olufsen gubbins in it, like the previous F400. It’s also packing a 2.8 inch touchscreen, and a unique, DJ-ish, turntable-inspired “Disc UI”, with an onscreen deck to scroll through, er, stuff. Other than the fact the music will sound brilliant, and it’ll have a 3MP camera, that’s pretty much it for the Beat DJ. Looks nice, though, if a little, well, bulbous.
